The meaning of our name

Dhana means wealth, and dāna means giving.

“We believe the greatest wealth is what we share.”

Founder, Dhana Aid

I’m Jay. I grew up in Singapore, served two years in the Singapore Armed Forces, and later became Canadian. In 2017, I moved to Ukraine, and when the war began, I started Dhana Aid.

In my family, giving has always been a way of life. My ancestors include Dr. Lim Boon Keng and Reverend Dhammasukha (Tan Keng Lock), founder of the Buddhist Union in Singapore.

In Buddhism, dāna, giving, is one of the highest virtues. Dhana Aid is my way of continuing their legacy.

To honor that legacy, I personally fund my own minimum salary, so your gift goes to the people who need it.
