The meaning of our name

Dhana means wealth, and dāna means giving.

“We believe the greatest wealth is what we share.”

Jay

Founder, Dhana Aid

I’m Jay. I grew up in Singapore and served two years in the Singapore Armed Forces before moving to Canada, where I studied at university in Toronto and spent several years building my life. In 2017, I moved to Ukraine, and when the war began, I started Dhana Aid.

In my family, giving has always been a way of life. My ancestors include Dr. Lim Boon Keng and Reverend Dhammasukha (Tan Keng Lock), founder of the Buddhist Union in Singapore.

In Buddhism, dāna, giving, is one of the highest virtues. Dhana Aid is my way of continuing their legacy.

To honor that legacy, I personally fund my own minimum salary, so your gift goes to the people who need it.

How we work

Simple, direct, and transparent

1

You buy the help directly

For power stations and everyday essentials, you purchase from the supplier or our Amazon wish list, and the items come to us for delivery. Your money goes straight to what you chose.

2

A volunteer team

Our doctor, psychologist and helpers give their time and expertise freely.

3

The founder funds his own salary

So your gift goes to the people who need it.
